Club rowing

The Fort Langley Youth Rowing Society Club Program is a year-long (12 month) program. Over the year, youth rowers train and develop their rowing skills while learning and experiencing the value of teamwork, commitment, and camaraderie. Fees are based on rowers participating for the entire 12 months.  At this time, we do not offer a part-time option.  An overview of the program is as follows:

SUMMER

  • Last week of June until end of August
  • Monday through Friday - 1.5 hours per day
  • Focus is on improving technical skills
  • On water training
  • Basic boat maintenance
  • New participants who have completed the LTR program may join club rowing and train with experienced rowers for the remainder of the summer schedule

Fall

  • 2nd week of September until the end of October (time change)
  • 3 times per week after school and Saturday mornings
  • On water training

Winter

  • First week in November until the end of February
  • 3 times per week after school and Saturday mornings
  • Indoor training due to inadequate daylight and inclement weather conditions
  • Focus is on rowing specific dry-land training with significant time spent on indoor rowing machines (ergometers)
  • On water training continues on Saturdays, weather permitting

Spring

  • First week in March until the end of May
  • 3 times per week after school and Saturday mornings
  • Focus is on preparing for spring regattas (racing)
  • On water training
